Dr. Martin Ng

Dr. Martin Ng, born in Malaysia in 1963, is a notable figure in the field of biotechnology and aquaculture, particularly known for his expertise in discus fish breeding. He graduated from the University of Malaya in 1988 and later earned a PhD in Biotechnology from University Malaysia Terengganu in 2023. His doctoral research focused on the phenotypic characteristics, phylogenetic analysis, and skin transcriptomic analysis of discus fish.
Beginning his journey in discus breeding and rearing in 1991, Dr. Martin Ng has developed numerous beautiful and recognized discus varieties. His accomplishments in this field have led to numerous invitations as a speaker at international seminars and conferences. He has also served as a judge at prestigious discus competitions around the world, including the largest Duisburg International Discus competition in Germany in 2002.
In 1999, Dr. Martin Ng became the founding president of the Discus Society of Malaysia. Under his leadership, the society organized the largest Malaysia International Discus Championship in 2021.
Dr. Martin Ng has contributed significantly to scientific literature, publishing four papers in renowned international journals:
